No Prep Plans: Confucianism in Joseon Korea

No Prep Sub Plans: Confucianism in Joseon Korea
Research + Group Project (Rules for Society Infographic)
Grades 6–10

Help students explore how Confucian philosophy shaped one of the most organized societies in world history with this engaging research and infographic project focused on Confucianism in Joseon Korea.

This resource is part of the larger Ancient Korea: Kingdoms & Dynasties series, designed to help students investigate the beliefs, governments, social systems, leaders, and cultural traditions that shaped Korean civilization through collaborative, student-centered learning experiences.

In this activity, students investigate how the Joseon Dynasty built an entire society around Neo-Confucian ideals — influencing education, government, family life, social hierarchy, and daily behavior for over 500 years. Working in groups, students create a detailed Rules for Society Infographic connecting Confucian philosophy, the five relationships, scholar-officials, education systems, and modern Korean culture.

Students also examine both the strengths and limitations of Joseon Confucian society, including strict gender roles and social hierarchy.
