IB DP TOK – Exhibition & Essay SkillsStructuring a TOK Essay | Essay Architecture Sheet
Help students build the essay before they begin writing it.
This no-prep TOK lesson focuses on the architecture of a successful TOK essay. Students explore how the 1,600-word limit shapes essay design, how claims and counterclaims need to be developed, how areas of knowledge can be used comparatively, and why structural problems are much easier to solve during planning than after drafting begins.
Students then put those ideas into practice by creating an Essay Architecture Planning Sheet with a realistic word budget, argument sequence, paragraph planning, AOK connections, and structural quality checks.
