No Prep Plans: Spy Missions — World War II Spies: Secret Agent Mission File
No Prep Plans: Spy Missions — World War II Spies: Secret Agent Mission File
Grades 6–8 | World War II • Espionage • Research • Historical Analysis
Bring the secret world of World War II espionage into your classroom with this engaging research-based Spy Mission! Students investigate a real Allied spy, uncover the missions, risks, tools, cover identities, and intelligence work behind their story, and use their research to plan a Secret Agent Mission File.
Students explore the work of organizations such as the OSS and SOE and may investigate agents such as Virginia Hall, Noor Inayat Khan, Nancy Wake, or another teacher-approved WWII spy. Rather than simply collecting facts, students analyze what their agent did, the challenges they faced, how they operated in secret, and why their work mattered.
Designed for approximately 1–2 class periods of 45–60 minutes, this lesson combines history, research, critical thinking, source use, and creativity in a highly engaging format.
