Big What Ifs Conversation Starters | Morning Meeting Circle Time | SEL K-5

What-if questions are the fastest route from a bored class to a loud, happy one.

This is 54 kid-sized conversation starters in the theme Big Questions & What Ifs, written for elementary readers, in TWO ready-to-use formats: a project-and-talk PowerPoint (one question per slide, in a big friendly hand-drawn style font that reads clearly from the back row) and a print-and-cut card pack PDF for hands-on centers, small groups, and table talk.

A taste of what is inside:
"What would you change about your day if you remembered how fast a year zooms by?"
"What would you do if nobody could ever judge you?"
"What would you want to tell the next kids about what really matters?"

WHAT YOU GET
1. A 56-slide PowerPoint: a title slide, all 54 questions (numbered, one per slide, color coded to the theme), and a closing slide. Works in PowerPoint and Google Slides (upload and convert), and looks the same on every computer.
2. A 9-page printable PDF card pack: a cover, a one-page teacher guide (five ways to play plus the circle rules), and all 54 questions as print-and-cut cards, nine per page. Print on cardstock, cut, and deal.

FIVE WAYS TO USE IT
1. Circle time: project one slide, whole circle answers or passes.
2. Bell work: one slide on the board as students come in, quiet think first.
3. Turn and talk: same slide for every pair, thirty seconds of thinking first.
4. Brain break: one random slide between subjects resets the room.
5. Goodbye question: end the day on one slide at the door.
6. Cut the cards: print the PDF for centers, lunch bunch, or a calm-corner card basket.

CIRCLE RULES THAT MAKE IT WORK
Everyone can pass, every time. We listen with our whole body. What friends share in the circle stays in the circle.

Before you begin: teachers are responsible for ensuring the questions are fit for their group.

Slides and cards together in one download, and this theme is one of 20 in the 1080 Talk About It Cards ELEMENTARY MEGA Bundle: 20 themes, 1080 questions, a whole year of circle time.
