No Prep Plans: Particle Model & Reactions
Research + Design a Particle-Level Animation Board
Aligned with Cambridge Lower Secondary Science Year 7 Chemistry

Help students visualize the invisible world of chemistry with this engaging particle-model investigation! In this hands-on STEM activity, students explore how atoms and molecules behave during chemical reactions and discover that chemical change is really the rearrangement of particles.

Students investigate the particle model of matter, distinguish between physical and chemical changes, explore conservation of mass, and create a multi-frame Particle-Level Animation Board that shows reactants, bond breaking, atom rearrangement, and product formation. By turning abstract chemistry concepts into visual models, students develop a deeper understanding of how chemical reactions work at the atomic level.

Students Will:
- Explain the particle model of matter
- Compare physical and chemical changes
- Investigate how atoms rearrange during chemical reactions
- Explore conservation of mass
- Interpret simple chemical equations
- Identify reactants and products
- Create a particle-level animation sequence
- Model bond breaking and bond formation
- Communicate scientific ideas visually
- Use scientific vocabulary accurately
