No Prep Plans | Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief: Who Can Percy Trust?
No Prep Plans | Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief: Who Can Percy Trust?Build an Evidence Board | Novel Investigation | Grades 5–8
Turn The Lightning Thief into a literary mystery investigation! In this no-prep lesson, students examine the characters Percy trusts—and the characters he probably shouldn’t—while learning to separate textual evidence from hunches.
Students investigate major characters, rank them from most to least trustworthy, examine evidence both for and against each character, identify Riordan’s red herrings, and return to early details that take on new meaning once the truth is revealed. Groups then use their findings to create a Character Trust Evidence Board and defend their conclusions using evidence from the novel.
