No Prep Plans: Mythology Around the World – Chinese Mythology | Creature Exhibit | Grades 6–10

Explore a mythology where dragons bring rain and good fortune, phoenixes represent harmony and virtue, and legendary creatures remain part of celebrations today!

In this no-prep Chinese mythology research and group project, students investigate the Chinese dragon, fenghuang, qilin, and major myths involving Pangu, Nuwa, and Hou Yi. Students examine what these stories and creatures represent, connect mythology to continuing traditions and festivals, and compare the Chinese dragon with the very different dragon tradition found in European stories.
