Ancient World Turning Points | The Age of Exploration | Exploration Impact Guide

Ancient World Turning Points | The Age of Exploration | Exploration Impact Guide | Grades 6–10

How did European exploration connect the world while also causing lasting consequences for Indigenous peoples and societies?

In this no-prep Ancient World Turning Points lesson, students investigate the Age of Exploration and examine how European voyages transformed global connections, trade, geographic knowledge, and the lives of Indigenous peoples.
Through historical research, critical thinking, evidence-based analysis, and collaborative discussion, students explore the motivations behind European expeditions, investigate documented achievements, and evaluate the harmful consequences of exploration, including colonization, violence, and disease.
