No Prep Plans Ancient Korea Leaders & Innovators — Jang Yeong-sil: Inventor and Scientist
Research + Group Project (Inventions Expo Board)

Bring STEM and world history together with this engaging research and collaborative engineering project focused on Jang Yeong-sil, one of the greatest inventors and scientists in Korean history.

Students explore how a lowborn Joseon inventor rose to become a royal engineer under King Sejong the Great while investigating groundbreaking inventions like the Cheugugi rain gauge, Jagyeongnu water clock, sundials, and astronomical instruments. Through collaboration and creative planning, students design an Inventions Expo Board explaining how Joseon Korea became a world leader in science and engineering during the 1400s.
